Shadow Box Framing

Shadowbox framing is a method of displaying 3 dimensional objects that require more depth than a standard moulding would provide.  Typically, the sides of the shadowbox moulding would be lined with foam core and the matte being used for the background. This provides for continuity of color as well as providing a brace for the glass/plexiglass.

In the sample picture, the following were framed:  The bride and groom’s picture; flowers from the bridal bouquet; grooms boutenier; bride’s gloves; Bride’s grandmother’s handkerchief; groom’s pocket watch and locket chain; tickets to the dinner train where the bridal reception was held.

The shadowbox moulding used has a depth of 3 inches. The matte board used is a bordeaux suede matte board.  The bride and groom’s picture is floated on a beveled 8 ply white matte board colored to match the bordeaux suede.
